Nikki Bignell dog training clinic at TASAA Samford Brisbane loose lead walking workshop

Loose Lead Dog Walking Clinic 2-Hour Intensive

$200.00

Does your dog pull, lunge, or turn every walk into a tug-of-war? This focused 2-hour clinic targets one of the most common frustrations dog owners face and fixes it fast.

Saturday, 18 April, 10am -12 noon

Led by TASAA's expert trainer, Nikki Bignell, with nearly 40 years of experience across police and family dog training, you'll walk away with the techniques and confidence to enjoy calm, controlled walks with your dog from day one.

What you'll learn:

  • How to establish loose lead walking from the ground up
  • Reading your dog's body language and calming signals
  • How to redirect pulling and regain focus on the lead
  • Building your skills as a handler so the results stick at home

Who it's for:
Dogs 16 weeks and older - yes senior dogs too! Owners of any experience level - whether you're starting fresh or breaking bad habits.

Attention young puppy parents - if you have a very young puppy and want to start this training now, you are welcome to join in and use one of the TASAA dogs. You will then be able to use your new skills at home with your puppy.

What to bring:
1.
Your dog on lead or you can come alone and use a TASAA dog

2. A very hungry dog (no food for 12-24 hours prior to course) - A hungry dog is essential for this dog training clinic. Please do not feed dinner the night before and no breakfast on the day of the clinic.

3. HIGH VALUE TREATS - You will need to bring your own treats for rewarding your dog. These must be high value treats your dog does not usually receive, as we will be doing many repetitions and need your dog fully engaged, even around distractions.

Treats should be soft and easy to swallow so your dog can quickly refocus on the exercise. Avoid hard or chewy treats as they slow down training and interrupt flow.

Cut all treats into very small pieces, around the size of your fingernail. We will be doing many repetitions and larger treats can fill your dog up quickly, especially smaller dogs.

Small group. Big results.
Places are strictly limited to ensure every dog and handler gets individual attention from our trainers.

Location

📍 Samford Valley, North Brisbane. We will send our training facility address and details prior to the day.

FAQs

Can I attend without my dog?
Yes. You are welcome to attend without your dog and work with a TASAA training dog. This is a great option if you feel overwhelmed in group environments with your own dog or want to focus on learning the techniques first.

What age does my dog need to be?
We suggest 16 weeks or older to attend the workshop but reach out if you are wanting to start your puppy sooner.

What if my dog is reactive or difficult to handle?
This workshop is designed to help with common dog walking challenges like pulling and lack of focus. If you are unsure, you are welcome to attend without your dog and still learn the techniques. Alternatively, contact us so we can better understand your dog and whether this course is appropriate.

Do I need training experience?
No. This workshop is suitable for all experience levels, whether you are starting fresh or working to improve existing behaviour.

Why does my dog need to be hungry?
A hungry dog is more motivated to work for rewards. This allows for more effective training and better engagement during the session.

What kind of treats should I bring?
Bring soft, high value treats that your dog loves and does not usually get. They should be easy to swallow quickly and cut into very small pieces.

How many dogs are in each session?
Places are limited to ensure each dog and handler receives individual attention from the trainer.
